American Legion Post 148 The Legion is open to membership for anyone who has served in the military. The American Legion serves the community, state, and nation in many ways. The Van Horne Legion has won the children and youth award for the state many times over the years. We have helped with many youth projects. Each year we give out over $2,000 in scholarships and participate in 5th grade essay contest for Benton Community students. We have flag day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day programs. We sponsor the Sons of American Legion for eligible Veteran’s sons and grandsons. Wives and daughters of Veterans can join the American Legion Auxiliary, which is very active in Van Horne. The Legion also has fund raising meals which are open to the public. If you enjoy serving your community, join the Legion. Yearly dues are $50 for the Legion and $20 for Sons of the American Legion. Floralia Arrangers Guild Floralia Arrangers Guild is a garden club. We plant and care for the planters on Main Street and at O’Brien park. We hold monthly meetings, usually at the Community Center. Future Green Future Green is an affiliate of Trees Forever and a Tree City USA. We meet quarterly, or when needed. Our goal is to continue to provide much needed tree canopies, wind breaks, buffers and shade for the town of Van Horne. We are always looking for, and would welcome, new members. Lions Club The mission of The Lion’s Club is “To Serve” our residents and community by holding various events throughout the year including: eye screening, community breakfasts, bingo Sundays, Children’s Fall Festival and more. Van Horne Business Association VH Business Association has been serving the town of Van Horne for many years. We work to help the community through betterment projects, assisting with town events and more. Our biggest event is the annual Breakfast with Santa which is held the 2nd Saturday of December. This event includes a free breakfast for everyone, toy give away to all children in attendance and drawings for ham and turkeys.
